TEXT: Galatians 5:25
This message is so apt in this time and season we are in, for some obvious reason;
The world is getting noisier, with so many dissenting voices and views here and there, so many doctrines out there, bringing about much confusion in our time and age.
As in Matthew 24:24 Even the Elites are getting swept off by it all, because our spiritual sensitivity and power of discernment has become inactive.
So many challenges and distractions that has deadened our sensitivity and drawn us further away, from that close-knit fellowship we once had with the Holy Spirit. This has caused our love for God and the things of God to greatly decline.
Thus, this message is a call to retrace our steps and restore our close fellowship with the Holy Spirit once again.
It is important to note that the Holy Spirit is central to our Christian faith, and that, it is a promise and a gift of the Father to believers to enable us live successfully here on earth.
We shall be looking at:
1. What is walking in the Spirit
2. Why must I walk in the Spirit
3. How do I walk in the Spirit.
WHAT IS WALKING IN THE SPIRIT?
Text: Gal 5:25
“IF WE LIVE IN THE SPIRIT, LET US ALSO WALK IN THE SPIRIT.
From the above text, walking in the spirit is the reserve of those who live in the spirit.
Those who live in the spirit are those who have received the new birth, those who are born again. Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3:6
‘That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born in the spirit is spirit’
So those who live in the spirit are all that are born of the spirit.
Therefore, if we are born of the spirit let us also walk in the spirit, says Paul, For we are all spirit beings.
Walking in the spirit is to yield yourself completely to the control of Holy Spirit.
To follow His leading, as a song writer wrote ‘where He leads, I will follow, follow all the way’.
WHY MUST I WALK IN THE SPIRIT?
1. It assures you as a son of God. Rom 8:14 ‘AS MANY AS ARE LED BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD, THEY ARE THE SONS OF GOD.
2. You will not fulfill the desires of the flesh, Gal 5:18
3. You can only please God when you walk in the spirit. Rom 8:4-8
4. Your spiritual Antennal functions maximally. Rom 8:10,11
5. There is no condemnation for those that walk in the spirit Rom 8:1 and no court in heaven or hell can bring any charge against you, Rom 8:33-34.
6. You will live a life of Dominion, Job 38:33, John16:13.
You will excel where every other person has failed because you will not work on your own but by the promptings and signals of the Holy Spirit.
HOW TO WALK IN THE SPIRIT
1. Build a close fellowship with the Holy Spirit: through prayer, Study of his word, and a close walk with him. A life of worship. Eph:4:11-12, Jude1:20
2. Live a life worthy of a Christian. Gal 5:18
3. Learn to hear Him speak. 1 Samuel 3:1-10.
4. And walk in total obedience to the Holy Spirit. And don’t grieve the HOLY SPIRIT Ephesians 4:30.
